      Practical Conceled Carry Skills Day

      The objective of this course is to provide basic instruction on drawing the pistol from personal concealment and provide the students with an opportunity to practice drawing from various concealment configurations. Students should be every day carrying or have a desire to carry.   Students currently carrying are expected to bring and use their everyday carry equipment. Students desiring to learn to carry should bring a pistol, holster, mag pouch, and spare magazines. All students will need bring a selection of cover garments.  All exercises will be performed using cover garments in various weights and configurations. Women are encouraged to bring their preferred carry method including concealed purses. Serpa, cross draw and behind the back holsters are not allowed for safety reasons. Appendix, thigh, and ankle holsters will be allowed pending student demonstration of proficiency. Students desiring to use one of the above holster types are encourage to bring alternative holster configurations. This class is not designed to teach marksmanship or pistol operation. Students are expected to be able to operate their pistol and to effectively engage a silhouette target at 5 yards (pass the NC CCH qualification). Students who need basic pistol operation and marksmanship training are encouraged to take the Pistol 101 course at Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center. A student who is unsafe or unable to perform basic pistol operation tasks may be removed from the class at the instructor’s discretion. Class Requirements: Students must have a valid NC CCH permit or reciprocal state CCH. Permits will be checked prior to class and must be presented with valid identification. At least oneeach of the following cover garments: Light weight – t-shirt, button shirt, blouse; and Medium weight – sweater, light jacket; and Heavy weight – winter coat (Garments should be ones that you regularly wear) Daily Carry Equipment Pistol, holster (inside or outside waist band) Magazine pouch and at least 2 magazines 250 rounds of self-defense ammo Other Clothes appropriate to weather. Range is indoors unheated or air conditioned. Comfortable shoes. Women may wear skirts if using thigh holster. Closed neck shirt. Baseball hat recommended. Brass is hot.
