      Chasing Substance: A Hollywood Animation Mental Health Conversation features a live conversation with the black animators, composer, and songwriter of the short 3d animated film, Substance. Unpack the creators personal road to Hollywood, enjoy a live screening of the film and participate in a unique and relevant panel discussion with community thought leaders in NC, in the fields of mental health, politics and faith all bringing the community to bear on the topic of Substance, the amazing icebreaking film that unpacks our community, and its mental health.  Substance is written and directed, produced and composed by 3 Hollywood trailblazers; Jamaal Bradley, Bruce W. Smith, and Bud’da; who are all highly sought after minority creators, directors, writers, animators and composers on some of our favorite films, television shows and songs, like, Tangled, Penguins of Madagascar, The Princess and the Frog, The Proud Family, Be Be’s Kids, compositions on Raven’s Home, the late great Aaliyah, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube to name a few hip hop and R&B artists, films and television shows they’ve worked on.  Special performances and vital panel discussions include, North Carolina's own rising star Adolphus (Scottie) Scott III (singer/writer of the Substance Theme Song), along with thought leaders, within mental health, faith, law, and education such as Dr. Stephanie Freeman, Arts & Humanities at NCCU, State Representative Zack Hawkins Durham County, Chelsea Banks, MMFT, LCASA Straight Walk Family Services, Anthony Harris, Community Outreach, of Step Up Ministries, Dr. Jeffrey Chapman Sr., of Dr. Jeffrey Chapman Ministries, CEO Vickie Yelverton of Yelverton Enrichment Services, Inc. and Christina Boyd, Entrepreneur, NCCU Student, Activist, Thomas Mckoy, Principal of RAM Academy and Lamplighter Award Winner 2017; Produced and Moderated by Producer, Writer, Artist /Cassandra “Trinity” Anderson for Kingdom Soldier LLC, with local youth talent, NCCU artist so much more.
