      Instro Summit(Saturday)

Three Days.  Twenty-Seven Bands.  No Words.  All-Rockin', No Squawkin'!Celebrating its’ sixth year, and currently the largest all-instrumental music festival in the world, The 2014 Instro Summit started as a four-band, one night show at the Cave in Chapel Hill. It has since grown into a monster 3-day, 27 band extravaganza, held this year for the first time at Motorco.  Bands from all over the US and elsewhere gather here to play (but not sing) the finest music they can offer, covering such diverse categories as surf, soul, rock, lounge, country, punk, and “I’m not sure what you’d call it”. No Jam Band noodlers or Prog-rock experiments here; all bands play music that is fun and easy to dance to, especially with a PBR in one hand and your date in the other.Highlights this year include California 3rd-wave surf legends the Insect Surfers, Nashville's Crazy Aces, The triple guitar onslaught of Atlanta's  Mystery Men?, The Gulag surf metal of the Vivisectors, a special instrumental only set from Durham's own Dom Casual, a reunion of Chapel Hill's legendary X-Rayons, Daikaiju, who must be seen to be believed, and much, much more.Cheapskates and the merely curious might want to come by on the afternoon of Saturday, May 17th, to see our free and all-ages "Matinee" period, which features our annual Lunch Jam, Wilmington's Meteor IV and Boston's Weisstronauts, and local band Phatlynx heading up our annual “Can You Play as Wack’d as Link Wray” guitar solo competition, where guitar players try and knock out and wildest solo during the Link Wray song “I’m Branded” to win a $500 suitcase full of prizes and swag, and The “Rumble Jam” where as many guitarists as can be fitted on stage all play the song “Rumble” at the same time (20 guitars is the current record),Further details of this festival can be had by looking up "The Instro Summit" on Facebook, Google Plus, Myspace, and You Tube.Lineup: Friday, May 16th:5:00: DOORS5:30: Trabants
