      Speaker: Dr. Freddie Parker, Retired Professor of History,North Carolina Central University Enslaved men, women, and children who fled from their owners between 1775 and 1840 often “disappeared.” Learn how their relatives searched for loved ones—based on newspaper advertisements for runaways that conveyed physical descriptions, personality traits, locations, and rewards—during and after the Civil War. Bring your own lunch; some beverages provided. Register to reserve a seat!
