      "As an Act of Protest" at Shadowbox Studio

      Speller Street Films presents the 2002 cult classic, "As an Act of Protest". This special event will present a revival screening of this controversial film and will include a post-film discussion with director & writer Dennis Leroy Kangalee about the film's vitality and support the need for new works that address the need for social awareness, justice, and consciousness.

      Synopsis: Cairo Medina, a young African American actor, goes through a station-of-the-cross journey to find the meaning of his life and eradicate the racism and police brutality that continue to plague the world.

      The event will take place on February 22, 2019 at Shadowbox Studio, 900 E Club Blvd, Unit 2200D (Inside Ample Storage Complex on E Club Blvd) Durham, North Carolina 27704. Doors open at 7:30 pm and the film will start at 8 pm. Tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the door. All proceeds will go towards the release of the film.
